Easter (Resurrection Sunday) Around the World

Do You celebrate Resurrection Sunday or do you celebrate Easter? What does Easter mean to you? Is Easter or Resurrection Sunday celebrated around the world? Is it about taking your children to Easter Egg Hunts? Possibly you do not celebrate this day at all. Or is it about celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus?

Passover:

***Good News***

1. Resurrection Sunday during the Pandemic

During the Pandemic on Resurrection Sunday many church buildings were closed, but the church did not closed, because the church is not in the building but in the saints. Thank God for the internet. The good news continued to spread abroad. We still had fellowship online. We still praised God online and are continuing to do so. God is good. Lost souls can still be saved online. Many saved money during the Pandemic because they were not buying new fashions just to wear to a building.

This is a time we will be social distancing, but still communicating and praising God. This is a time that we may be sending virtual hugs and kisses online. Although we may be confined to our homes we still have freedom in that we can worship God 24/7 on his Hotline which is always up and never down. Saints have a spiritual connection and bond that cannot be broken.

2. Easter

According to History.com Easter is a Christian Holiday the celebration of Easter goes back as far as the 2nd Century. They further add that this popular secular holiday was celebrated by early Christians who adopted Easter from a Pagan festival that celebrated the goddess associated with fertility.

The retailers have taken advantage of this day by advertising great sales on clothing, candies, eggs, and much more.

3. Bonfire

Did you know that Northwestern European communities kick off a two-day celebration by starting a bonfire on Sunday, called Easter Fires. This is according to womansday.com. They further add that the fires originally were set to help chase the darkness of winter away, but now have become a fun way for community members to come together and celebrate the coming spring.

4. Jewish Passover Festival

Abc.net talks about the name for Easter in most countries in Europe as being derived from the Jewish festival of Passover; Eostre was a goddess of spring or renewal and that is why her feast is attached to the vernal equinox. They further add that eggs are a symbol of new life and rabbits and hares are also associated with fertility and were symbols linked to the goddess Eostre.

5. Resurrection Fact

Jesus prophesied his resurrection, he explained this to his twelve disciples. He let them know he would be condemned to death and handed over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified and then would raise on the third day. Matthew 20:17-19. Crosswalk.com talks about this also.

6. Easter in Sweden

In Sweden this time of year is called Paskdagen and is predominantly a secular holiday celebrated with a meal of eggs, herring, and Jansson’s Temptation (potato, onion and pickled sardines baked in cream). This is according to kwintessential.co.uk. They further added that the children might dress up as Easter witches.

6. Easter in France

In France there is the tradition that church bells stop ringing around Easter as a mark of respect of Jesus Death, the explanation of their silence is that children are told the bells have flown to Rome to be blessed by the Pope. The standard co.of uk. Further adds that on Easter Sunday morning Jesus’ resurrection-the bells then fly back to France loaded with sweet treats which they drop into gardens for the children and once they are back in their steeples they then start ringing joyfully again.

7. Easter in Guatemala

Their most striking Easter tradition is the intricate sand designs called alfombra( which is the Arabic word for carpet) that line the streets. The multi-chromatic creations come in patterns of all kinds-geometric, flora, and illustrative.

8. What the Bible Says about Resurrection Sunday (aka as Easter)

Luke 24:6-7. He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

9. True Meaning of Easter (Resurrection Sunday)

I recall growing up when Easter came getting all dressed up for church and memorizing Easter speeches about Jesus. I also remember dying Easter eggs, which is something that I truly loved to do as a child. Since I have become and adult I recall different Easter egg hunt activities planned around the community for children. My grandchildren loved to go to Easter Egg Hunts over to their Aunts. I once asked them what was so special for them. They said that they not only found Easter boiled eggs, they found money inside of the the eggs. I can see why they loved the hunt so much. Resurrection Sunday (aka as Easter) is one of the central holidays, or Holy Days, of Christianity, which honors the Resurrection of Jesus three days after His death by crucifixion. This is according to Christianity.com. I also believe this. Also, note that several churches now refer to Easter as (Resurrection Sunday). Also, there is not the fixation on Easter Egg Hunts and Easter speeches, but rather the remembrance that Jesus died for all.
