1. Health Benefits

Hi to all of you ham lovers. Did you know there are several health benefits of ham? Ham is high in protein but low in carbs, fat, and fiber. It’s also low in calories when eaten alone according to healthline.com. They further add that ham is particularly rich in selenium, provides all nine essential amino acids, contains decent amounts of phosphorus, zinc, and potassium to help your body produce energy, fight infections, and maintain heart health, it is a rich dietary source of carnosine, choline, and coenzyme 10 compounds that aid energy production and cell messaging throughout your body.

2. Ham meals

There are various different ways that ham can be prepared. Baked and glazed ham is quite popular. I love to bake smoked picnic hams. They have a flavoring of it’s own. I usually basted my ham with vinegar and brown sugar. There have been occasions when I forgot vinegar and substituted it with the juice from canned peaches. Both work very well. I recall one of my grandchildren visiting another relative. She told the other relative this ham does not taste like my Granny’s ham. Aaaaaah! I thought. She likes my ham. How wonderful. Ham meals may include leftover ham to make pot pies or bean soup. I have added ham to my pinto beans. Now that is a fiest.
