There is Power in Positive Thinking

Did  you know that there is power in positive thinking? The creativeness of the mind has so many abilities. Positive thinking can improve your life.

Although positive words are good positive thinking is also very important and there is definitely power in your thoughts as well as in your words.

***Good News***

1. Stress Management

According to Mayo Clinic positive thinking just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. The further add that the benefits of positive thinking include increased life span, greater resistance to the common cold, and better copying skills during hardships and times of stress. I know that even though you may feel a negative emotion does not mean that you need to voice it or even act negatively. Instead regardless to how you may feel you can choose to think positive thoughts. How many of you know that you may feel one way one day then another way the next?

2. Smiling

Have you observed if you smile at a small child that they will smile back? Have you tried smiling at someone and they smiled back? There is the old saying (fake it til you make it) There may be something to the faking it with a smile. According to hopskinsmedicine.org., there was a study done at the University of Kansas and they found that smiling even fake smiling reduces heart rate and blood pressure during stressful situations. They further add that it is difficult not to smile while watching a favorite funny video.

When you are in traffic and need to stop for a crossing train or other incident do you become agitated and upset? Why not take a different approach and turn on some soothing music on the radio, sing or hum to yourself, or possibly recall pleasant events from that day or the day before. I am sure that will put a smile on your face.

3. How to think positively

You may imagine that it is easier said than done. It may be difficult for some in the beginning. It may even take practice for others, but it can be achieved if you are persistent. According to subconsciousness blog.com read books and articles about this topic, always find reasons to smile, replace negative thoughts with positive ones, always focus only on good and happy thoughts, and repeat affirmations to change your mindset.

5. Positive Affirmations

I find that positive affirmations are a great way to think positively, but posting positive affirmations to Pinterest seemingly helps others. There are many promises of God in the Bible that are great positive affirmations also. Phillippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This is just one of my favorites.

6. Train Your Brain

Did you know that you can train your brain? According to powerofpositivity.com daily gratitude, staying centered, staying active, and following your passion can help in thinking positive. I recall doing a small act for a friend and her response was, “Thank you, I appreciate you.” That stuck in my mind for a long time. Now I make it a point to let other’s know I appreciate them. This is so important and it makes you feel so good to hear someone tell you that.

7. Employers

Did you know employers want to know what you can do for them not what you cannot do? I recall a principal speaking to elementary school children. She emphasized that employers want to know what you can do for them. Positive attitudes can determine whether you actually get a job or not. I recall I had been out of the work force temporarily and was on government assistance. Upon re-entering the workforce the employer offered me the exact amount that I was receiving on assistance. Several of my friends suggested staying on assistance. I did not. I accepted the offer from my employer because I saw a brighter future. I knew it would not be like that always. After accepting that position I was promoted within 3 months, even though Human Resources had discouraging remarks like, “ no sense in looking at postings you haven’t been here long enough to apply.” Even though I was a receptionist in the start I observed and learned everything that I could for the position I was promoted too. I was smiling and happy about that. Positive thinking can take you a long way in many areas of your life.

8. Positive Affirmations for Kids

Your children need to learn the power of positive thinking, because in the world and in the schools they will find people that may not be for them. You want your home environment to be a place that they can feel safe and good about themselves. Your positive thinking can influence your children for the better. Look for the good things about your children. Then go a step further and tell them. I recall I would tell my daughter things that she was good at and her response was, “You are just saying that because you are my mother.” Then someone else told her the same thing and she let me know that.

It can be so empowering to tell your child as they go off to school, “ Have a great day.” It can be so empowering to look at a situation and not be negative about it, but instead consider the good things about the situation. Psalm 30:5 “Weeping May Endure for a Night, but Joy cometh in the morning.” For those that are believers this is a true statement. Hoping and believing that things will get better is so comforting.
