What Do You Know About AI (Artificial Intelligence)?

Exactly what is AI (Artificial Intelligence)? Are you aware that Artificial Intelligence is used in many facets of our daily life? Do you even know when you are interacting with Artificial Intelligence? Artificial Intelligence is here.

***Good News***

1. What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

According to techtarget.com artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI (Artificial Intelligence) include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision.

2. Do you use Alexa and Siri?

Are you using Artificial Intelligence and not aware of it? Yes that is possible. Alexa and Siri are applications powered by artificial intelligence according to foxnews.com. They further add that Apple’s Siri acts similarly to Alexa, but it is a computer application primarily used in the company’s phones and tablets.

3. Television and Emails

Do you use voice control on your television or emails? Do you just tell your television the programs you want to watch? This is Artificial Intelligence Learning. Did it occur to you when you do that you are using artificial intelligence? Yes you are. Corporate.comcast.com states the platform, via the Xfinity Voice Remote, fields 15+billion commands per year and uses artificial intelligence to understand what customers are saying, interpreting those commands, and surface what they want, all in less than a second.

I have realized that this can sometimes be frustrating because enunciation is very important. Sometimes the Artificial Intelligence will think you said one thing when you really did not. What about when you call a store and you are given 5 or 6 options to choose between. There may be times none of the options are applicable. Then you want to speak to a live person. That is rare today to find a live person to talk to on the telephone.  This can be very frustrating for older people. I have also observed that artificial intelligence is used a lot on the weekends.

4. Chat Boxes – Facebook

Did you know that Facebook has a chatbox Artificial Intelligence? I do not know and cannot say it is the best Artificial Intelligence chat box. In this free Facebook chatbox you can get information regarding sports, pop culture, adventure, and much more. Just scroll down before logging out and it is listed. Again, you are learning about Artificial Intelligence.    You will also see a Meta Artificial Intelligence Assistance including several other characters that you can interact with. Some of the characters are Amber-crime-solving detective, Max- easygoing private chef, Bru-sports superfan and much more.

5. Do You Use Grammerly?

If you use grammerly it is free and instantly generates clear, compelling writing while maintaining your unique voice. Grammarly.com talks about this. It auto corrects on your  Iphone also. The only thing about auto-correct is you still need to re-read to make sure that the auto-correct is actually the correct word that you would like to use.

6. Google and AI

Google has Artificial Intelligence.  Google talks about how it is providing guidance with AI regarding design patterns, worksheets to help guide you regarding your product, case studies. And workshops kits for you to practice regarding your product.

7. AI and the Climate

Did you know that AI (Artificial Intelligence) can help predict when and where energy demand is going to be highest, making sure they have power online, ready to supply demand? Yes this is talked about at Cnn.com. They further add that Amazon Web Services, the online shopping giant’s cloud computing arm, has pledged to be “water positive” by 2030, meaning the company will “return more water to the communities in which they have data centers infrastructure than they take. I would say that is a hefty promise.

8. AI and Healthcare

Are you aware that AI (Artificial Intelligence) is currently used in healthcare. Yes forseemed.com talks about it stating that the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare is widely used for clinical decision support to this day, machine learning in healthcare is slowly replacing rule-based systems with approaches based on interpreting data using proprietary medical algorithms, diagnosis and treatment of disease has been at the core of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare for the last 50 years, and they were not significantly better at diagnosing than humans, and the integration was less than ideal with clinician workflows and health record systems.

9. The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Some of the potential developments you can expect in the future of AI (Artificial Intelligence include advancements in Machine Learning, Increased Use of AI (Artificial Intelligence in the healthcare industry, facilitating high-quality 3D Visualization, expansion of Artificial Intelligence in Education, Implementation in Natural Language Processing, Increased Automation in Manufacturing Processes, Improved Autonomous Vehicles, and Advancing Event Management.

10. What Companies are Using Artificial Intelligence For

Did you know that some companies are using Artificial Intelligence to optimize productivity in ways such as eliminating recitative tasks for employees, allowing for a more efficient supply chain, increasing Cybersecurity, and generating quick responses to customer needs or questions? This is talked about at coursera.org., I can identify with the generating quick responses because when making a telephone call to a business it is very seldom that you talk to a live person. Instead you receive a message to push this number or push that number. Sometimes there are so many options that you you might forget what the first option was.

11. AI(Artificial Intelligence and Gaming)

You do know that when you are playing games on your mobile device Artificial Intelligence has a role in that? Have you ever thought about will Artificial Intelligence replace humans in game design? According to usv.edu/blog, Artificial Intelligence will always need a human touch. They further add that Artificial Intelligence lacks creativity, humans can collaborate, humans understand cultural trends, Artificial Intelligence does not understand human emotions, humans are full of surprises, Artificial Intelligence does not get social commentary, and humans can respond to player feedback. At least that is for now. Who knows what the future will bring. What are your thoughts on Artificial Intelligence?

Interesting post! I knew some of these uses of AI, but not all of them. One that I get asked about often is language translation and recognition. I am an American Sign Language instructor and I also work as an ASL Interpreter for the Deaf. People tell me about gloves that can sign or software that can translate English into ASL. I have not used any of these, but I am not sure how well they can use the language because in ASL, grammar takes place on the face, not the hands. As you mentioned, sometimes AI can be frustrating (like automated phone calls) because it just can't do what a person can do. :) Thanks for sharing this post at the Will Blog for Comments #17 linkup. Hope to see you there again next time.

AI is everywhere and is a part of our day to day. I use Grammerly, and "okay Google tell me?" It's interesting and the thought about what people can do with it in the wrong way is scary to think about.
Visiting today from SSPS 290 #72

Jennifer I think it is amazing that you are an ASL Interpreter for the Deaf. That would be an interesting article for you to write about. I recall having a deaf cousin growing up. Her sister was very good signing with her.

Yes AI is all over, sometimes we are not even aware that we use it.

I never use Siri or any voice recognition because they can't understand my "funny sounding" voice. It is so frustrating. AI is getting scary though. Hopefully The Terminator movies would come true..ha ha.

Amy strangely enough I do not use voice recognition on my cellphone. I believe it is slower than I can type. I do, however, use it when watching television. I find that I must be careful to enunciate or SIRI thinks I am saying something that I am not. That is really frustrating. By the time you get it corrected the picture might be over. Thanks for stopping by.
