This is one of my favorite dishes. Deviled eggs are so simple to make. The good thing about it is that eggs are nutritional. There are numerous ways that you can make eggs.

I decided to create an idea pin on Pinterest for deviled eggs. I had no idea that it would get as many views as it did. This idea pin has now received 2K views.

1. Benefits of Eggs

Did you know that eggs offer complete protein, they are full of selenium, phosphorus, choline, vitamin B12, have multiple antioxidants, which help keep your cells healthy, help your good cholesterol, lower your triglycerides, and can lower your odds of a stroke? That is discussed at webmd.com.

2. Different types of Eggs

Which type eggs do you prefer? Caged eggs come from birds in battery cages and can protect hens form predators and the parasites that live in manure. Cage-free eggs come from hens that can move freely both horizontally and vertically, but they may not have access to outdoor areas.

Free-range eggs comes from birds that do not live in cages and have access to natural daylight or a vegetation-covered outdoor area for at least 8 hours per day. Pasture-raised eggs come from hens that have regular access to a large outdoor space that is covered in grass or other vegetation. All of these are mentioned at medicalnewstoday.com


3. The Food Pyramid

The food pyramid is a visual representation of how different foods and drinks contribute towards a healthy balanced diet. According to gov.ie eggs are on shelf 4 of the pyramid and you should have 2 servings a day. I really like boiled eggs because they are so convenient. You can take them with your lunch to work or on picnics. I can recall coloring eggs for Easter. They great thing about this was that they seemed to taste so good after they had been colored.


There are so many different ways that you can prepare eggs.


4. Sunny-Side up Eggs

Do you like sunny-side up eggs? These eggs are cooked until the whites are solid but the yolk is still runny. I never have liked that.


I recall one of my children’s friend spending the night at our house when they were younger. That morning I made their breakfast which included scrambled eggs. The young girl said, “That is not the way my daddy makes my eggs, he has the yellow running out of it.” It never occurred to me to ask her how she wanted her eggs. So that was a learning lesson for me. She looked at my scrambled eggs as a foreign object and refused to eat them.

5. Ideas for Omellet Fillings

Do you like Egg Omelets? There are so many different fillings that can be added to an egg omelet and that includes avocado and cheddar, roasted potatoes, and Gruyere, leftover ratatouille or other vegetable stew, bacon and cheese, spinach and tomato, or even ham. These are mentioned at simplistically.


6. Hard-Boiled Eggs in the Oven

Have you ever baked hard-boiled eggs in the oven. Well according to wholesomeyum.com it is more convenient because you can use your timer and just walk away. I disagree because I have boilded my eggs on the stove using a timer as well and also used my oven timer for baking something else at the same time. Sort of like (killing 2 birds at one time). Anyway baking hard-boiled eggs in the oven is another alternative. So I believe it is a matter of preference. She goes on to explained you just need to preheat the oven 435 degrees F and place eggs into a muffin tin. Bake for 20-30 minutes. Then plunge the eggs into ice water for 10 minutes. I will have to try this. I think both methods work well, but if it is a hot day and you do not have air-conditioning in your house you may not want to turn on a hot oven. That might be something to consider.!! 


7. Egg & Sausage Casserole

This is another tasty dish that you just have to try. When visiting a relative this was when I first discovered this. It is an awesome dish and tastes oh so good. Plowingthroughlife.com talks about this. It is as follows: Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9×13 pan. Crack eggs in a mixing bowl and lightly beat with a fork or whisk, then stir in milk. She did not say how much, but from the picture it appears like ½ cup. Brown sausage in skillet and drain thoroughly. Then mix sausage and egg ingredient, shredded cheese and 2-3 pieces of toast cut into pieces and pour into greased pan. Bake for 30-45 minutes. I plan to try this recipe very soon. I got hungry just writing about it.


8. Egg and Honey Hair Mask

Did you know that eggs are also good to put on your hair? Yes eggs serve a multitude of things. According to beautyepic.com the benefits to your hair is that it softens and moisturizes hair, reduces hair falling out,  promotes hair growth, nourishes hair follicles, fights off infections and cleanses scalp. They further add that it is very simple to make. In a bowl whisk the two ingredients 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply this mix to your scalp and hair with your fingertips. Leave it on for about 1 hours then shampoo your hair. I have not tried this yet, but I do plan to. They also have another recipe for the hair that includes 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of honey, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and 3 tablespoons of yogurt. This one is especially appealing to me because I already use several olive oil products for my hair and I just love it.

I haven’t made Devilled eggs for years but you’re post has inspired me. I’m making lunch for my family tomorrow to celebrate Father’s Day so I think that I’ll make some as an appetiser.

I Love eggs. I enjoy breakfast for dinner. My preferred style is sunny side up or here in Western Pennsylvania " dippy" eggs. Humm... I never tried to make hard "boiled " eggs in the oven. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to have to try that.

Deviled eggs are some of my favorites, too, as well as, egg salad with sliced green olives. Yum!
