Why a Vision Board?

Do you have a vision board? Have you considered building a vision board? Do you have a vision for your future? Do you have a vision of your goals? Vision boards are quite helpful.

1. Vision

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Vision is important because you need to be able to visualize it for it to become a reality. I have often heard small black children stating they wanted to see a picture of someone that looks like them. I have often heard prominent blacks state if you see me you can become like me. Did I ever think I would see a black President during my lifetime? I did visualize a black President. I have also visualized a Woman President. Today there are numerous women CEO's (Chief Executive Officer’s) of companies all over the world.

2. Visualization is Powerful

Do you know why visualization is so powerful? Your (RAS) reticular activating systems is the filtering station of your brain. Constantly seeing the images on your vision board helps your brain filter out the things you don’t want, while focusing on what you do want. A visual reminder is how your subconscious mind stays focused on your goals according to elizabethrider.com.

3. For Your Eyes Only

Whether you decide on a physical vision board or an online vision board, remember the vision board is for your eyes only. There are haters out there. You may not want to share your vision board with others. Then on the other side you may want to share your vision board as an example to others. It is your choice.

4. Knowing What You Want

Knowing what you want is key. Think about your dreams and whatever it is that you want out of life. I recall when I started a Pinterest visual pinboard I did not have a clue as to what I was doing. A co-worker suggested Pinterest to me. I am so glad she did. Now today I have 1.7K followers. I learn everyday something new from Pinterest. This can also apply to your vision board. Dream big. If it is something that you want and you may think it is not obtainable pin it to your vision board because one day it may become obtainable. Vision boards do work.

5. Bucket List

Maybe it is not enough that you made a bucket list of things that you want to do before you pass away. Maybe you might want to do a vision board to visualize those things that you want to do. Remember this is your board. There are no rules.

6. Family

I recall my grandchildren and I sat down one day and made our own individual Vision Boards. I was quite amazed at the ideas and goals that they wanted for themselves. I was so very proud of them and I told them. I bought bulletin boards, crayons markers, scissors, and magazines and we basically made the board from that. I emphasized that they need to look at their vision board daily.

7. Vision Board Printables

Okay maybe you do not want to cut your vision ideas from a magazine another alternative is to download online free printables for your vision board according to the queenlife.me. There are various printables about health, friendship, family, money, travel, career, and much more.

8. Dream Vacation

Possibly you have a dream vacation that you feel you could never afford. Why not put this on your vision board. When you dream, dream big. You can even dream about things that are bigger than you. Possibly most of your life you have dreamed of traveling to a certain place or country. It can become a reality with a vision board.

9. Other Levels

A Vision Board works on other levels such as identifying and clarifying goals, dreams, intentions, focusing on values, gratitude, lifestyle choices, visual affirmations, and acting as a map toward your dreams and goals according to artfulparent.com

10. What You Need

You may use a variety of things for your vision board such as scissors, magazines, glue stick, tape, markers, stickers, fasteners, calendars, buttons, real cloth material, and stencils. Remember this is your board. You decide what you may or may not want to use on it. There is no end to what you may think of to use on your vision board.

11. Research

Read and research on your own to find out what others are doing with their vision boards. Research ideas. Maybe you have no idea when starting your vision board exactly what ideas you want to visualize but seeing examples of other visualizations may give you new ideas. Thank goodness for google. You can google numerous ideas for your vision board. The ideas may be endless. Take your time. Think about it.

12. Feelings

According to huffpost.com Elizabeth Rider (contributor) added few trinkets, like a peacock feather and bookmark picked up at retreats where she felt incredible energy and motivation around what she was learning. It was further added that she used a few inspirational notecards from her best friends and women that she admired on her board as well. So that is very important how you will feel when you create your vision board. It is not just about placing pictures and things on a board. They sorta all work together to create a bigger picture.

13. Examples of Visions Boards

DIY(Do It Yourself), activities, surfing, video games, traveling, nature, cooking, financial, family, relationships, inner peace, love, skills, and much more. The ideas could be endless.

So do you have a vision board? If not it is not too late to start one. Vision boards do work.
