Faith Moves
Mountains
What does
faith mean to you? Faith is believing
even when you cannot see the way forward.
Keep believing and never give up.
***Purpose***
1. Example:
I recall
when I started working at my previous church as secretary. I was only 14 years old. We moved to a new location. The building needed renovating. I recall my pastor had a picture that he
posted on the bulletin board which was a vision of our new church. I was excited and I believed, but I heard
many negative comments such as, “I will believe it when I see it.” Or I don’t believe it.” I did not understand why everyone else could
not see what the Pastor saw. I saw the
vision. Well, it took a while but
eventually it was complete. It was
beautiful. It looked exactly like the
picture and was very large and very spacious.
Have you had a similar type of faith experience?
2. Spiritual Plan
Do you have
a spiritual plan? According to
believerschurch.org., spending time with Jesus in prayer, scripture,
journaling, or stillness, joining a church and surrounding yourself with people
who help you follow Jesus more closely, and serving by finding ways to use your
gifts in the church or with a local organization are important to helping you
grow physically.
I have
mentioned this before as a young girl before starting school my neighbors
always went to church. I wanted to find
out what this church is about. When I
first went with them, I fell in love with church. In fact, the Sunday I was scheduled to go with
my neighbors I fell and injured my arm.
I do not know how long it took to heal, but I wanted to go so badly that
I lied and said my arm was better. When
my neighbor asked me to raise my arm I could not. She told me when I was able to raise my arm
I could go.
3. What Can Faith Do?
You might ask, “What can Faith Do?” Hope can strengthen your faith. Without hope you are doomed to falter and fail according to stpaulcenter.com. They further added that hope is magnanimous enough to believe in the power of diving grace, yet humble enough to continue to pray for it. It appears that hope and faith work together.
4. How Strong Is Your Faith?
Do you even
know how strong your faith is? Have you
ever made the statement, “I do not have Faith in him or her?” Have you ever sung a song about, “Keeping the
faith, never giving up, it is only a test?”
Sounds like faith needs perseverance.
Sounds like faith needs some sticking power. Joycemeyer.org. talks about possessing faith
and releasing it. Have you ever given
your circumstances to God to help you or do you just try to do it yourself?
5. Measure of Faith
Romans 12:3
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think but to think with sober judgment,
each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Everyone uses their faith differently. Someone once suggested to think of faith as a
light bulb above your head. Each
person’s light bulb might shine differently.
Some might shine brighter than others.
6. Walk
By Faith
2nd
Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. Do you walk by faith? Or do you only walk by what you can see? I have found that you cannot believe
everything that you see, and I do fervently believe that what is seen is
temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18. Matthew 24:35. Heaven and earth will pass
away, but my words will never pass away.
I also know that science seemingly only believes what it can prove and
see, but how many instances have there been events that science could not
prove? How many miracles have been
performed? How many times have people
gone to the doctor and the doctor’s test showed detrimental things to the patient’s
body only to have those same things disappear and the doctor had no explanation
as to why or what had happened?
7. Stages of Faith
Are there
stages in your journey of faith? Yes,
there are. There is belief, discipleship,
productive life, productive life-service, the wall and the wilderness, the
journey inward- rebuilding, and the journey upward and outward-love. Corellaroberts.com talks about these stages
and asks where are you on your journey? I
believe I can identify with all these stages.
What about you? Have you ever
lost faith in an individual? Psalm 118:9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
8. Belief Systems Pros and Cons
Did you know
that belief systems influence you? Belief
systems can provide a sense of belonging, offer purpose, facilitate bonding,
provide guidelines for ethical behavior, offer comfort and solace during
difficult times, encourage exploration, learning, and seeking truth, and can
promote inter-group harmony, according to helpfulprofessor.com. They further added that they can lead to
narrow views of self-worth, may foster division and discrimination against
non-believers, may justify harmful actions, may lead to judgment or
condemnation of others based on differing morals, may lead to closed-mindedness
or rejection of new information, may lead to censorship, may spark conflicts
when beliefs clash, and may lead to persecution, violence, or wars in the name
of belief.
I will leave
you with one of my favorite scriptures. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance
of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.
