Although
college can be good and valuable for increasing knowledge, technical
skills can be useful also. Some go to college in hopes of finding a
higher paying job, some are looking for Mr. Right, and others have no
clue: trying to find themselves not knowing what they want to do in
life. Some people have college degrees, but no common sense. Some
have no wisdom; knowing when to speak and when not to speak.
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when
he is old he will not depart from it.” Every child is unique.
Observe your child because there is something that your child is
naturally good at. Your child may have not just one talent, but
many talents.

Do
you have a backup plan in the event college does not work out for
you? Are you that person that already knows college is not for you?
There are other alternatives. Also remember God gives creativeness in our spirit. There are so many possibilities that you
already. Have you considered learning a skill.
Have
You Considered Learning any of the following skills?
1.
Cosmetology
I
always remember my grandmother saying,”Always have a plan B; if you
are good at hair-styling that is something you can always fall back
on to use if needed.” You might decide to open your own business
because you enjoy doing customer’s hair. I know of one beautician
that is so good she has her own shop in her house and it looks
fabulous like another home. Anyway she even teaches cosmetology at
one one the colleges. I know of another beautician, Kendra, she is
just awesome, besides the fact she creates awesome hairstyles, she
always comes to work with her hair done in different styles. I can
appreciate that, because I remember telling her, “I want my hair
done in the style that you have today.”
2.
Manicurist
Did
you know that there is money to be made as a manicurist? There are
so many that own their own shops too. According to Marieclaire.com
ancient Babylonian men manicured and colored their nails as far back
as 3500 B.C. They further add that in 1300 B.C. Cleopatra, Queen of
Nefertiti, had her nails painted a blood red hue, equating the bolder
the color the more power that you had.
3.
President Obama
Although
Obama was our previous President, this man has an awesome voice.
When I first heard him singing I thought, “He sounds better than Al
Greene.” Now could he have become a great record artist of this
time? I don’t know, but he sure has the voice for it.
4.
Mechanic
Did
you know that there are women mechanics? Some women were taught by
their fathers about car repairs. If that is something you like to do
then go for it. Cars will always need to be repaired.
5.
Truck Driver
Have
you ever considered becoming a truck driver? According to Money-Wise.com no college is
necessary, but you must pass state testing requirements and have a
good driving record.

I agree, not everyone can afford college or wants to go to college. There are so many occupations that do not require a college degree. Thanks for reminding us!
