What Is Love?

Do You live your live to the fullest? Are you to busy correcting and enforcing rules on your children that you do not take the time to enjoy them? Do you even take the time to enjoy your life? Why not start enjoying life?

Love

I found several great table mats for my table. I thought about the words that were on them, “live, love, and laugh.” I believe the greatest of these is “Love.”

1. Love

A. Chemistry

Have you heard your child say? “He’s so fine.” “ I feel so good when I am with him.” “I get goose bumps just being near him.” Is it love or lust? Lust stirs up feelings and emotions. When dating ,these emotions may get stirred up. Sometime your child might say,“I am so attracted to John.” “The chemistry is definitely there.” Think about it. Is it love or lust? It might just be better to date in groups when your child is of dating age.

B. Feelings

Feelings and emotions change. You cannot rely on them. When young people are dating, it is important to date in groups, rather than alone It gives the young person a chance to see how their date adapts to certain situations. It allows others in the group to observe the character of the date. Also, others in the group may see and observe things that the young person might not see.

NOTE: Do you know of anyone that is looking for love in all the wrong places?

C. My Recollection

I recall a friend that acknowledged he came from a loving and supportive family, but he chose to go down the path of using drugs. Now when he became drug free he was compelled to show his friends there was a better way of life because so many had followed him down that narrow path. He also shared with me it was not enough to tell people, but to show them by his actions. Also, I know that my friend had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. God is waiting on you. Hebrew 13:5 He will never leave you, nor forsake you. The prescription for love is in the Bible.

GOD    is    LOVE

1 Corinthians 13: 13 tells about love and now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Gives a great description of what love is and what love is not. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I have not arrived and perfected all that love is, but I am striving towards that.

I believe the greatest love is found in Johns 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This is one of the greatest gifts.

2. Live

Are you enjoying your life? Maybe it is not exactly what you expected it to be, but are you controlling the things that you have control over such as what you eat or how you balance your time? You know everyone has been given 24 hours in a day. What are you doing with yours? It is your choice.

Did you know that tea is actually good for you?

3. Laugh

Did you know that laughing is one of the best medicines that there is? Proverbs 17:22.   A Cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Laughing is free and it does not cost any money.   Besides the fact that this is mentioned in the Bible, when you laugh, it just gives you a good feeling. Have you ever observed how carefree children are
about laughing and playing? They will laugh at almost anything. Children are bombarded in our society by so many negatives, they need to be able to laugh about some things. I have observed how some children are able to make others laugh. Some like telling jokes and some just are naturally funny.  According to WebMd, studies have shown that humor may raise the level of infection-fighting antibodies in the body and boost the levels of the immune cells. Sometimes just laughing with your children about something you all find amusing. Possibly a funny commercialpicture, or even a joke, may be something you and your children find to laugh about throughout your day.

Regardless to how bad you may feel about your circumstances in life, look around you and find something to laugh about today, even if you have to watch a comedy or  movie.  Have a good laugh. I know that I had a good laugh today.
