Technology Then and Now. . . . We Have Come Along Way Baby

Do you realize how fact technology is growing? Even technology items you purchase today, may become obsolete within several months, because something newer and better has been created. In fact, it might be difficult for some to keep up with the new technology.

Often I have heard people say, “I don't like computers or I do not have a cellphone.” Like it or not computers are here and they are used for just about everything. Ministers are preaching their sermons from Ipads. I have even seen Ipads in the retail store advertising jeans and different items in various departments. I want to talk about just a few of the new technologies.

1. GPS (Global Positions System)

I am so happy we have GPS, but where was it years ago when I needed it? I recall when I first married, my husband and I were traveling South trying to read a map. We had trouble with that, because we were suppose to travel South, but were traveling North in error. Yes I eventually learned how to read a map, but the GPS is so much nicer. 200 years ago, who would have imagined that we would have real live time when driving. What I like about the GPS is that it will let you know when there are delays, possible accidents, and even reroute you.

2. Cars then and Now

Karl Benz drove the first automobile in Mannheim, Germany at a top speed of 10 mph. Today there are several cars that reach top speeds ranging from 223 mph to 288 mph. While the normal speed limit on the highway is 65-70 miles per hour, this would not have been thought of many years ago.

Listed below are some of the fastest cars in the world.

Why am I not surprised when Forbes.com states a flying Car may go on sale in 2017. Co-Founder and CEO of Juraj Vaculik at Southwest in Austin, Texas, talks about moving flying cars to market sooner than later.

4. Google Engine Searches

Do you take for granted the online Google searches that are available for just about anything that you might want to know about? Pick any subject and do a Google search to find the information you want.  You can do Google searches to find a house, find a person, or to learn a new craft. Have you ever Google searched your name? Try it you may be surprised at what you find. Do you want to know what someone's house looks like? Google search their address. This is so much faster and so much easier.

5. Computers Controlled by Your Brain

Are We There Yet? Not quite, but there is a prediction of the possibility of the brain controlling the computer. This may be particularly important to individuals that have been paralyzed. A brain chip can be placed in the brain to control electrical impulses which are determined by the brain's thoughts. Testing is already in progress.
