Do You Have Healthy Eating Habits?

Besides the fact that you eat to nourish your body, have you thought about other reasons that you may be eating unnecessarily? Sometimes are you eating just to be eating?

healthy eating advice

Could it be that you are an emotional eater? Why not start to be intentional when you are eating? Good eating habits can be a great lifestyle. It is your choice. Just face it, if you like and enjoy food there is nothing wrong with that.

Boost Your DNA

You become more vulnerable to disease as you age because the ends of your chromosomes become shorter according to Web MD. They further add that new studies suggest that lifestyle changes can boost enzymes thus causing your chromosomes to lengthen.

Word Power

Did you know that when you say words aloud your subconscious listens and this affects your attitude? What you say becomes a reality, according to blogs.webmd.com. So be mindful of what you say. This is nothing new. Romans 4:17, “I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickened the dead, and called those things which be not as though they were.” This is something that God has always told those who believe in Him.  God's word is alive.    Develop the healthy habit of learning more about Jesus to help you change your eating lifestyle. Change your way of thinking.

Thankfulness

How many times have you thought, “If only I looked like that,” or “If only I could stop eating so much.” Well nothing is standing in your way. Have you considered there are others that are worse off than you? Have you considered there are those that are starving in this world? Be thankful for what you have and be thankful for what God has already given you. You have everything you need, you just need to know how and when to use those resources.

More Is Not Better

Think about eating less intentionally. I mentioned in my article
"Mind- Blowing FREE Tracker 2 Go App,"  I could not longer eat the way that I used to eat. I am now more intentional and focused in my eating. This does become a lifestyle and a pattern. I like something that my pastor has said often, “Just push yourself back from the table.” Leave a little something on your plate. You do not have to eat the last drop. Something that Dr. Oz mention that has stuck with me was to not eat everything on your plate when eating at a restaurant. Since most restaurants give you such large servings, just eat half and take the other half of your meal home to eat at another meal setting. That makes plenty of since to me.

Discipline

Discipline is a practice. It might not be easy in the beginning, but practice, practice, practice. Learn the practice of delayed gratification. This does not mean necessarily giving up those foods that you love, but rather saving them as a special treat to eat after you have been true to yourself by eating healthy.

Sprint vs Marathon

Remember if you are trying to lose weight, the weight may not come off immediately. It took awhile to put the weight on and it may take a while to take it off, but the important thing is to be persistent and intentional never failing. Be sure to keep focused. Keep your eye on your goal. If you feel bad and you want to eat, eat a carrot, celery. Instead of drinking soda, replace it with water. Although there has been a crisis in my city with a health emergency & disaster because of high contents of lead, presently bottled water is our only alternative for drinking water.

Great points here, Betty. I love that you emphasize the fact that losing weight takes time--it's a marathon not a sprint. But as long as you're intentional with your eating habits, as you suggested here, losing weight and leading a healthy life is possible. Thanks so much for sharing this on #SHINEbloghop this week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Betty, This is such a powerful post. You really addressed some very real issues, for example, the importance of mindful eating and being thankful! I particularly appreciated your point about considering the fact that there are so many others who are worse off than you? "Have you considered there are those that are starving in this world? Be thankful for what you have and be thankful for what God has already given you. You have everything you need, you just need to know how and when to use those resources." Amen!
