4 Tips Regarding the Hoverboards and Your Children

What is all the hype about Hoover Boards? That seems to be the new fab now. Have you purchased a Hover Board for your children? Would you purchase a Hoover Board for your Children?

The Hoverboard

Hover Boards may or may not be a great idea. If you are going to purchase a Hoover Board for your children, there are a few things that you should know.

1. Charging

According to Fire Chief Chuck Flynn at NBC Connecticut news, it is important to make sure that you are watching the Hover Board when it is charging and don't overcharge it. He further emphasized to use the approved chord with the unit. It really sounds to me it is very important to follow the instructions very carefully. I think about how I charge my cellphone and not necessarily watch it while it is charging or charging it overnight while I sleep. That might not be a good idea with the Hoover Board.

2. Sparking Fire

According to Diane Wilson at ABC11 news, the Carey family discovered their Hoverboard on fire. She further adds although water was thrown on it and it was sprayed with a fire extinguisher, it was taken outside to the grass where it continued to smoke for about 20 minutes. Thank God no one was injured, but there was damage to the family's home. I would say that is an expensive price to pay. I could not I imagine having my home damaged by fire of any kind.

3. Fire

Did you know that the Hoverboard does not have to be charging to catch on fire? According to Sean Hollister and CNET.com. He further adds that American, Alaska, Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest and United Airlines are banning hoverboards on passenger flights, and the United States Postal Service has stopped shipping Hoverboards by air.

4. Homework

Consumers do your homework. If you have made your mind up to get a Hoverboard for your children make sure you know the facts about one. Did you know that the Consumer Product Safety Commission has received at least 10 reports of hoverboard fires and the number is increasing daily? This is according to agency spokesman Scott Wolfson's discussion with NBC News. So people be careful. I think I would wait and think again before purchasing a Hoverboard. Finally, I ask you again, would you get your children a Hoverboard?
