5 Awesome Spring Break Ideas




People Roller Skating


Spring Break is already here for some and is on the way for others. During Spring break there are a variety of activities that you and your child could do.


1. Skating at Rollhaven Skating Center

Skating indoors is an event that you and your entire family can enjoy.

Where: 5315 S. Saginaw St., Flint, Michigan 48507 (Grand Blanc Township)
When: April 3,4,5,6,7,8, 2011
Time:: 1-5 p.m.

Admission is $1.00; with skate/blade rental it is extra. They are offering one coupon per person per day. This is a great deal for spring break. This special event is part of a school rebate program.

Rollhaven offers a variety of activities including a Glo Party. Children are given a Flashing LED cup, glo necklace & glo stick to keep. They also provide excellent pizza and drink. The children just love it. Saturday mornings is Kids morning. From 10:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m. For ages 10 & under Only with Parents. Admission is $5 and it does include skate/blade rental.

Wednesday April 13 10 a.m-12 noon is for children 6 years old & under with parents. Admission is $5.00 and includes skate/blade Rental and Bounce House. Children seem to love the Bounce house just as much as the skating. Skating parents admission is only $4. Infants in strollers are free. I have even seen the babies in strollers on the skating floor. So for those parents that do not skate, you can still push your infant in the stroller on the floor.

2. Binder Park Zoo,7400 Division Drive, Battle Creek, Mi 49014

Where: This Zoo will open April 22, 2011.
Time: Mon-Fri. 9 am-5pm, Saturday 9 am-6pm, Sunday 11 am-6pm, Holidays
open until 6 p.m.

Admission for Adults $12.95, Seniors $11.95, Children 2-10 $10.95, Children under 2 FREE. Bind Park Zoo Members Free. You can see African Safari and feed the giraffe.

3. Chicago Children’s Museum

Children Museums can always be fun activities for the family. This particular museum has 3 floors of activities.

Where: At Navy Pier, 700 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, Il. 60611-3429
Time: Daily 10 a.m-5pm, Thursday Evenings 5 p.m -8pm

Admission: Members FREE, Children Under One FREE, Children & Adults $12.00 Seniors $11.00 as of April 4, 2011.

The First Sundays of the every month is Target Free which is offered by Target Stores. Free Admission all day for ages 15 and under. Groups of 15 or more must register by calling (312) 464-8429. I like that Free First Sunday.

There is also a Kraft Free Family Night offer by Kraft foods foundation, Thursday evenings, 5pm-8p.m, and it is Free Admission for everyone. Groups of 15 or more muster register by calling (312) 464-8249. This is a great deal.

They also offer a coupon for $1.00 off each admission up to 4 per family which is good through June 30, 2011. One coupon per family. How great is that?

Spring Break Fun for Kids

4. Smith-Gilbert Gardens

Where: 2382 Pine Mountain Road, Kennesaw, Ga. 30152
Time: Monday-Saturday 9 a.m-4 p.m., Sunday, 11 am.-4pm .

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and active military, $5 for children 6-12, children 5 and under are FREE.

This is a beautiful botanical garden.

They offer Garden games for Junior Gardeners. Among some of the programs for children are garden related story, sing, create art, and walk around the gardens. These are just a few of the programs for children.

They offer several workshops for beekeepers. These include lectures and discussion.

5. L’Anse Township Park and Campground

Where: 126 N. Main St., L’Anse, Michigan 49946
When: Camping is available by the day or week

Admission is $15.00 for Tents and $18.00 for Travel Trailers and Motor Homes. This camp offers 30 modern campsites. I like that word “modern.” It includes a shower Building playground, pay telephone, and much more. Anyone out there ready to go camping?
