***Intentional***

Now I had heard about brain fog after chemotherapy, but this is the first that I had heard of brain fog associated with burnout. Burnout is not something to be taken lightly.
4. Caregiver Burnout
There are various types of burnout, but are you a caregiver? Did you know that caregivers get burned out? Seniorsafetyadvice.com talks about some of the top burnout causes for Senior Caregivers. They talk about emotional and physical demands, lack of control, social isolation, unrealistic expectations, and lack of support. These are all major issues that should be of great concern. I recall working and taking care of my elderly father when I had 3 children at the time. I was not able to be there all the time fortunately I contacted the Red Cross and they were able to have a nurse come in 2 days a week. That was such a relief. I was and will always be thankful for that help.
I also recall one family that has several siblings that stay and take care of one of their siblings. I was amazed that they rotated so that someone is with their sibling 24 hours a day. I thought that is wonderful. Although several families are not having large families in this generation, large families years ago proved to be a blessing in more ways that one. I marvel at the testimonies I have heard of families that had 14- 20 children or even more.
5. Teacher Burnout
Regardless to what your profession might be, you may still experience burnout. Can teacher’s experience burnout? They sure can. What can a teacher do? First of all teachers can give themselves compassion for recovery, do not be to hard on themselves, set boundaries, create connections, make time for themselves, and ask for help. I believe many times people in general fail to ask for help or either have no idea where to turn for help.
I can truly identify with setting boundaries. A friend of mine that is a therapist expressed some mentally challenged people (not her patients) that seemed to rub her the wrong way. I questioned how can you be in that profession and feel that way. She explained that she believed in setting boundaries with others and even her patients. I had never thought of it from that standpoint. Boundaries are very important, especially in work/life situations.
6. Behavioral Pattern Burnouts
Can your behavior patterns cause burnout? They surely can. Passive-aggression, not saying no, staying up too late, taking on too much, and becoming a couch-potato can be behavioral patterns of burnout. This is talked about at fwrdinstitute.com.
7. How Can You Recharge at Work?
There are simple ways that your can recharge at work by taking a break, re-evaluating your workload, practicing self-care, identifying the root cause, practicing mindfulness, taking small steps, exploring new opportunities, taking a technical break, learning new skills, practicing gratitude, finding meaning in your work, setting realistic goals, creating a relaxing environment, getting organized, and if necessary seeking professional help. Tobeirene.com talks about this. I could not agree more.
8. 4 Types of Burnout
Were you aware that there are 4 types of burnout? Psychologytoday.com talks about this. They are as follows:
1. Frenetic sub-type; associated with work overload and over achievement and underachievement in other areas of life.
2. Under-challenged sub-type; Under-stimulating environment with repetitive work tasks, overtime work that becomes uninteresting and monotonous, and no clear avenues for professional growth.
3. Worn-out sub-type; Known as neglect burnout, learned helplessness and hopelessness, clear tasks, and demanding and stressful work
4. Misalignment sub-type; Possibly a discrepancy between company values and personal values, life principles of an individual, and possible conflict between personal fulfillment and professional fulfillment.
9. Effects of Untreated Burnout
Could there be serious side effects of untreated burnout? Wedmd.com talks about weight gain, headaches, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stomach and gastrointestinal problems, muscle and joint pain, breathing issues, injuries, and even death. They further added that prevention of burnout might include seeking help by talking to friends and family, engaging socially, changing your attitude about work, setting new priorities, exercising, and eating healthy.
10. Negative People
Did you know that negative people can affect you? Helpguide.org., suggest that you limit your contact with negative people because negative-minded people who do nothing but complain will drag down your mood and outlook. I can identify with that. I have observed that with some people the only thing that comes out of their mouth is negativity. I have found myself distancing myself especially when I try to take it to a positive level. Too much negativity can really get into your spirit and wear you down emotionally as well as physically.
