Breast Cancer Awareness Ideas

Did you know that even though we are still in the Caronavirus pandemic we can still celebrate breast cancer awareness?

1. Men Get Breast Cancer

Did you know that men do get breast cancer? Possibly you have always thought of it as women’s disease, but according to Mayo-Clinic it does occur in men. They further add that it is most common in older men.


2. Good Listener

How good of a listener are you? This is a good time to be a good listener if you have a relative or friend that has Breast Cancer. Put your listening skills to work.


3. Breast Cancer Treats

Do you like to cook? This is an excellent time to put your cooking skills to use. You might want to make breast cancer cupcakes or cookies.

Have you taken the Breast Cancer Quiz? It is short, sweet, and snappy. This is something you might want to take in your spare time at cancer.org., to see how your knowledge rates regarding cancer. I decided to take it and I scored 6 out of 6.


5. Head Coverings

You may want to look into turban wraps and scarfs for head covering during chemotherapy. They also make for excellent gifts. Ecosystem had numerous head coverings that caught my eye.


6. Painting Rocks

Are you artistic? Whether you are or not modpodgerocksblog.com gives you step by step instructions on how to paint rocks. You can paint your own breast cancer ideas on the rock.


7. Breast Cancer Wreath

I find that Breast Cancer Wreaths are great for putting on the front door of your house. I received my first Breast Cancer Wreath from Amazon.com. I am really happy with it. It is even larger than I had anticipated.


8. More Education

You can never learn too much about breast cancer. Take the time to educate yourself even if you have never had breast cancer. Possibly you know of a friend or relative that has had it. According to blog.dana-farber.org there are top myths about breast cancer that you might want to know about.


9. Wear a Pink Ribbon

Have you considered wearing a pink ribbon or something pink during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness? I recall our choir director provided us with pink ribbons one year to honor breast cancer awareness. That was awesome.


10. Breast Cancer Walk

Find a breast cancer walk near you. Those that love to jog or walk this would be a great event for you.


11. Pink Pumpkin Contest

According to total wellnesshealth.com they suggest to have employees create their best breast cancer awareness pumpkin to showcase in the lobby with collection jars next to each one then donate the funds to a breast cancer cause. They further suggest a breast cancer awareness bulletin board, a 50/50 raffle, and collect scarves and hats for donation.


12. Chemo Port Pillow

According to createtodonate.org., a Chemo Port Pillow can be made easily from scrap material for those of you that like to sew. What is a Chemo Port? It is a small unit that is placed under the skin. This makes it so much easier to deliver the Chemo to your body. It also helps to avoid you getting poked by a needle every Chemo session. Usually the port is inserted at the hospital in a medical setting. The Chemo Port Pillow makes it easier for the patient to rest against so the Port does not irritate the skin during the sessions. Your session may last ½ hour to 4 hours. Each person is different. That is another reason why it is important if your have a friend or family member that can sit with you during that time to make the time go by quicker.


13. Breast Cancer Awareness Socks

I have seen children wearing these. They are so adorable.


14. Mastectomy Care Kit

There are those that are electing to have Mastectomy as oppose to just having a lump removed from their breast. Some may find they carry the genetic gene that predisposes them to Cancer and they consider themselves being proactive by having both breast removed. According to sparklesofshunshine.com 10 essential things to include in the kit are throat drops, lip balm, cleansing wipes, dry shampoo, neck pillow, bendable straws, slipper socks, button up shirts, small pillows that fit under the arm, and magazines, books.


15. Workplace Ideas

Do you need ideas for the workplace? According to insecure-komen.org suggest pink offices, fundraisers, employee Pink Pancake Breakfast, pink parking spots, dress up your door contest, pink contest, held hostage for the cause and much more. I really like the dress up your door contest. I can already envision that.


16. Cancer Sucks Lollipops Fundraiser

Misunderstand talks about Cancer Sucks Lollipops Fundraiser. This is just awesome. They ask what color of stick will you get? You can choose from orange which is free, blue-.25cents, red- .50 cents, and green .75 cents. I thought this is such a creative idea. Who doesn’t like lollipops? I am sure the kids will just love this. They further suggest relay for life quilts. Those are just beautiful. I recall my mother-in-law loved to make quilts and we still have some of the beautiful quilts that she made and gave to us. Having the ability to sew is such a great gift. Kudos to designers. There were times that many did not have money to buy fancy clothes, but rather they had the ability to create designs and make their own clothing.
