Times
have changed possibly since you were in school. There have been
numerous shootings in school. Children should not have to worry
whether someone will come into school with a weapon. Children should
have an environment where they feel safe to learn. Read more about
what some school districts are doing to ensure this.
Grand
Blanc Schools of Michigan will be installing barricade locks for all
classroom doors in the district according to ABC25 News. Teachers
will be able to enforce the barricaded device in the event of an
emergency lock down. This is an added measure that previously was
not available in the event of an emergency lock down. They have
already started installing them and plan to be finished by summer
with 1400 barricaded locks installed across the school district.

Locked Doors
Now
most school doors are locked during school periods and should you
come to visit the school you need to be buzzed in and go directly to
the office to state why you are there. In the office you must sign in
and sign out as well.

Bullet Proof Sanctuaries
According
to heritage.org there are bulletproof sanctuaries that can be put
inside classrooms and can double as “story corners.” They
further emphasize active drills in the event there is an active
shooter. Many schools have already started their drills and perform
them often.
4. Report What they Hear
According
to psychologytoday.com it is important that students report to a
teacher, counselor, or other school official if they hear students
talking about guns or killing others. They further add that some
schools have hotlines setup where students can report findings
anonymously.

Yes, times are crazy and I still remember hiding under our desks back in the 60's and early 70's for bomb scares. Thank you for sharing at #trafficjamweekend and happy Mother's Day.
