Are You Habitually Late?

Are you or do you know of someone that is always late? There may be times that you cannot avoid being late, but there is a difference when someone is late the majority of the time.

Chronic Lateness

Possibly being late is of little importance to some. Even though we have been given 24 hours in a day, there are those that make a choice to be late.

1. Work

Your place of employment may not tolerate you being late too many times. I recall an employee that was late for work nearly everyday. This type of behavior occurred seemingly for a long time. I wondered why doesn't management do something about this behavior? Then one day I discovered she was fired for the chronic lateness. I do not know her circumstances, but employers may tolerate lateness sometimes and not all of the time. I have often wondered why people choose to be late.

There are a few things that you may want to try, if you are tired of being late and want to change your behavior.

2. Set the Clock

Set your clock earlier than you have been setting it in order to rise up early in the morning. Everyone's timing is different. You will need to decide how early you need to get up in order to make it to your destination. Some may only need and hour, whereas others may need several hours especially to allow time with children.

3. Log or Journal

Did you know keeping a log or journal for about a week of everything you are doing before work, may give you a visual of things that could be changed or eliminated? Could you be trying to multitask and doing too many things before work? You will have to decide this.

4. Leave Early

If you need to be to your destination at 9 am., are you waiting until 8:55 to travel 50 or 60 miles to your destination? Does this allow for emergencies on the road that might occur?

5. Sleep

Finally are you getting the needed sleep that you need to wake up refreshed for you new day? You will need to determine how much sleep you need. Although, you may not get it all the time, you may want to strive towards getting enough sleep. Your body will determine how much sleep you need, because when you do not get it, your body will not hesitate to let you know.

Why not make it a choice to stop being habitually late? What do you do to make sure that you make it to your destination on time? I would love to hear from you.
