Sometimes our minds may be our greatest
enemy. Because God gives us creativeness in our spirit, we can
empower our children to say uplifting phrases that will help them
immensely.

| Positive thoughts for the day |
Can you help your children learn to
have positive thoughts for the day? Sure you can. Have you ever
stopped to listen to some of the things that children might say?
Have you ever heard children say aloud, “I am so stupid,” or
possibly, “I never do anything right.” Those type of comments
are very defeating and demeaning to themselves. There is a better
way. Some phrases that you may want to encourage your children to
say aloud to themselves are as follows:
1. I Can
Often I recall my children saying, “I
can't.” I would tell them that is a phrase that is not allowed.
Instead I would suggest them to replace it with “I can.” I would
remind them there is nothing to hard for God no matter what a
situation may look or feel like. My Pastor often says, “I am who
God says I am.” That is so true. People may want to label us and
put limits on us, but there are no limits with God. 2Nd
Corinthians 5:21 tells me that I am the righteousness of God. I
recall a Principal talking to third and 4th graders.
Something she said that really stuck in my mind was that employers
are looking for what people can do for them. I agree. They do not
want to hear what you cannot do, but what you can do.

2. I am Awesome
“I am awesome” is my favorite. It
is important for your children to learn to encourage themselves.
They need to speak good things to their mind. By continuing to do so
they will eventually receive it and believe it.
3. I Love You
Have you ever looked in the mirror and
told yourself, “I love you.” This is something that you and your
children can learn to do. It is not too late. According to Linda
Noble at Huffington Post.com, when she says, “I love you” in the
mirror she feels good and she experiences those changes in her body. Your children deserve to feel good,
because there is negativity in the world whether we want it there or
not.

4. I am Unique
Your children should know and say, “I
am Unique.” Why? No one has the same DNA that they do. God made them specifically with their own individual blueprints. Someone may be
like or similar to them, but they are not them.
5. Today Is My Learning Opportunity
“Today Is My Learning Opportunity”
is another thing your children can say daily. They can look at life
as a God given day to learn something new. You can always learn
something valuable in nearly every situation. Even if you ask
yourself, “How could I have handled that situation better.” This
is a tool that can get your child to think outside of the box.
Note: Finally, parents it will not
hurt at all if you say some of these same things to your children as
well.

I never heard anything positive growing up. I was told I was too skinny, too light, too quiet. My mother never paid any attention to me until I was 1 and then she decided to give advice. I however always told my children I loved them and how special they were. Thanks for this story. It will bless many.
Golden rule kids I like unique too. It is just something that is special in itself.

These are so great! We taught our two-year-old to say "I'm awesome!" when she could first talk. Now it is something we smile and yell together often, it is such a delight to see other parents who also believe in the importance of teaching our children who they are (in Christ) is amazing. I hadn't thought of #5 but it is true...each day we are given opportunities to learn in both our successes and failures. Thanks for sharing! :)
