Why Go Green?

Going green helps our planet earth. It is something that individuals and organizations are starting to do and to encourage as well. Everyone is getting into that act. Society is becoming more aware of the benefits to improve our status of living.  Did you know that you can go green by eating select foods?

Go Green

Reasons to Go Green

Global warnings are real. Someone once said, “When you know to do better then you should.” Going green helps the planet and helps you. Becoming conscious and aware of this is becoming more evident every day. Going green will help the future generations.

There are numerous ways that you can go green. Also, note that organizations are tending to go green. You may want to pick a few of them. Going green is becoming more popular as more people become conscious and aware. A few tips are listed below:

1. Nutrition

One green solution is to eat less animal, which is one of the biggest factors you can have on your carbon foot (food) print, according to Webmd.com, In addition, if you do not want to eat less meat you might try wild-caught fish or go to the farmers market to receive local produce. I frequent farmers market often. I always find something good there. I also like the fact that I can always find fresh fish at Meijer Grocery Store, that is unless I am not eating the fish that my husband and I have caught myself, since we love to Fish.

2. Solar Energy

Have you considered solar energy? I have observed that some General Motor Factories in Michigan have taken advantage of this. There are several solar panels in their lots. I also have observed several farms that take advantage of the solar energy as well. When you elect to use solar energy, you are contributing to generating more clean power according to TreeHugger.com.

3. Hotels

The hotels are starting to go green. The Las Vegas Sands Corporation is one of them. They have saved enough electricity to power more than 6,500 average American homes annually according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

4. Energy Star Washing Machine
Did you know that an Energy Star Washing Machine uses less energy?  Although I have an Amana washer, it does have an Energy Guide stating if used with an electric water heater, there is a savings of $80.00 a year. I love my washing machine.

5. Your Health

Someone might ask the question, "What is in it for me if I go green?" According to

going green decreases the emissions and when you use natural cleaning products, you will have the ability to breathe better. In addition, chemical-free paints on walls safeguards your family against toxic exposure. You probably never have imagined how much your breathing can be affected by chemical usage. In the article

there is even further discussion about reasons to go green.

6. Paperless

Have you considered going paperless? The bank, credit union, telephone company, and many other organizations are encouraging customers to go paperless in an effort to go green.

7. Lifestyle

Practicing going green can become a lifestyle.  Energy.gov  talks about switching light bulbs to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs which could usually saves about 25-80% less energy than traditional incandescent lightbulbs. I know that is right, because we switched to the (CFL) bulbs many years ago and I noticed that the bulbs last longer, I cannot remember when I last changed a light bulb. So I know personally that it does make a difference.
