Prepare Your Toddlers for Their First Field Trip
Children On A Field Trip
1. Clothing
Are your preschoolers going on a field trip? Be sure your toddlers are dressed for the weather. During the fall and winter months the weather and wind could be quite strong. Make sure they have hats loves, jackets, and or boots if there is snowy weather.
2. Type of Field Trip
Consider the type of field trip your toddlers will be going on. Is it a farm field trip? Possibly it is a field trip to an apple orchard. Will the toddlers be going on a hay ride and be exposed to cooler weather? Any type of field trip will be considered educational because toddlers are forever learning.

3. Instructions
The school may give instructions, but you need to talk to your toddlers and let them know what you expect of them. Emphasize that they are to stay with the group and not wander off. Emphasize that they are to put on their listening ears and listen to their teacher’s instructions. Make sure that you or the adult traveling with your toddlers remember the bus number, so they do not get back on the wrong bus. Let your toddlers know they must be careful of touching things. Unless the teacher okays the touching of animals or other things they are to keep their hands to themselves.

4. Remembrance
Just for fun you might emphasize to your toddlers to see how much they can remember about the field trip. You might ask them what was the most significant thing that they liked about the field trip and the least thing they liked.
Please feel free to comment. Do you know someone else that might want to read this article? What problems have you encountered on a field trip with your toddlers? I would love to hear about them.
