How To Study God’s Word

You are a unique individual. No other person has your unique DNA. God wonderfully made you that way. You have a purpose. It is up to you to find out about your purpose. Those that are saved and have accepted Jesus as their personal saviour all have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. God speaks to your spirit. One might ask, “How does God do that?” He speaks through the word that he has given you for life. In order to find out what God wants you to know, you need to study Gods word. His word is in the Bible.

1. Ask God to come into your heart and Save you. Yes, He has to be invited, because He gave you free will to make your own decisions. He will not just bombard his way in. Once you are saved, you need to find a church to worship with other followers of Christ.

2. Then find a Bible Study group, usually under the guidance of the Pastor, who oversees his flock. Now you don’t have to go to church, again it is your decision. It is not enough to come and sit at Bible Study with the pastor and other followers either. You must study to show your self approved. This is a part of your Christian Ministry. God’s Word is quick (alive) and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart. Hebrews 4:12. Now God said it. Not my words, but His words. Use your spiritual ear to hear God.

3.When you study God’s word, you cannot take all of the words in the bible literally. For example, look at the scripture John 3:16 “For God so Loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. “ Have you ever thought about what everlasting life really is?

a. Look up the word everlasting in the Bible Concordance. I use a Strong’s Bible Concordance. The words are listed alphabetically.

b. To the right of the word everlasting will be scriptures. See the scripture John 3:16.

c. Beside that scripture to the right will be a number in italic print. The number you see should be number 166. The number for the Hebrew print is in bold print. Note the different prints.

4.a. Toward the back of the concordance there will be a Hebrew section and a Greek section. Look in the Greek section. Look for the number 166.

b. To the right of it will be the Greek word for everlasting which is alonios.

c. Then it gives you how to pronounce the word which will be ahee-o’-nee-os.

d. Then it gives the meaning of the word which is from 165; perpetual (also used of past time , or past and future as well:--eternal, for ever, everlasting, world(began).

e. The 165 listed above will give you more information about the meaning of everlasting.

Now congratulate yourself, you have completed one of the most important part of studying God’s word. So look words up. Find the true meaning words.

What you Need: A Spiritual Ear. A Bible. A Bible Concordance
