What Act of Kindness Will You Give Today?

Acts of kindness is one of the greatest way to show love for another. It does not hurt to be kind. It does not have to be something huge, but rather some small gesture of kindness to another. You never know what someone else might be going through.

Go be kind

First of all I want to apologize to all of my followers. I was not aware that your comments to my blog was not being published. My  thanks to Ann, one of my blogger friends who brought this to my attention.

What Acts of Kindness Looks Like:

When an act of kindness is performed you will know it when you see it. It is an action of compassion and empathy for a human being.

Power in the Acts of Kindness

Did you know there is power in kindness? According to en.wikipedia.org., Random Acts of Kindness and senseless acts of beauty was written by Anne Herbert on a place-mat in Sausalito, California, in 1982. Her book was published February 1993 speaking about true stories of acts of kindness. Since then seemingly more people have caught on to the idea of Random Acts of Kindness.

Random Acts of Kindness actually started long ago. There are different kinds of kindness. Think about it all throughout History there have been those that needed help and if it was not for the kindness of others where would mankind be now. What about the person that gives the waitress a $500 or $1,000 tip? I have seen those that have donated cash money to Cancer patients to help them. They did not have to do this. They did not have to do it but they did. Acts of kindness is contagious. When you help someone then they usually will turn around and try to help another.

A. Example of kindness

I recall during the winter. There was a big snow and our neighbor’s young son went throughout the neighborhood snow-blowing the sidewalks. I was very grateful, but I do not think his father was very happy. His father had told him to do their sidewalk not the entire neighborhood.

B. Another Example of kindness

I can never repay the many random acts of kindness that has been shown to me over the years. I recall as a teenager while at my first baptist convention all of the young people were asked to wear white dresses and white shoes that night. I went shopping and found the dress, but I was out of town and there was no time to try to go back to the house I was visiting so I went directly to the venue. As I changed clothes in the bathroom I told my new girllfriend that I met, I do not have any white shoes. Another girl heard me and asked what size shoe did I wear? It was the exact same size as mine. She said, “I will be in the audience you can wear mine, but give them back to me afterwards.” I was so thankful, because she knew nothing about me.

C. How Kindness Affects Others

According to healthfacts, pdf kindness decreases endorphins in the brain that decrease pain. They further add that kindness produces serotonin (the feel good chemical that makes you happy and calms you down). So giving kindness to others is as good for you as it is to those that you give it to. Kindness is important to our communities and to the entire world. Everyone can benefit from the kindness of others. The good thing about kindness is that it can be performed in so many different ways. There is no certain pattern, path, or particular way to show kindness. There is no certain rule to show kindness. When kindness is given, the receiver will know it and feel it. The receiver will have no doubt about it.

D. Kindness Gives Hope

According to Operationwarm.org, kindness gives hope. How many times have you seen those that gave up on life? How many times have you heard someone say that they did not have anything to live for. A small act can greatly influence another.

A Few Random Acts of Kindness that you could do:

1. Do something for someone without them asking

2. Pay for the person’s grocery in line ahead of you

3. Cut your elderly neighbor’s lawn

4. Grocery shop for a friendly

5. Babysit for free 1 day

6. Be intentional and say thank you

7. Pay for someone’s morning coffee

8. Run errands for someone.

9. Toiletry bags (water soap lotion, etc} for the homeless. This is something you and

your children can work on together.

10. Work at a soup kitchen for a day

11. Bring in donuts for co-workers (Be careful about bringing in candy) I had a

co-worker that brought in lots of candy so she would not eat it at home. She

     was diabetic.

12. Give away a free lunch (this is what a friend of mine is doing). She has drawings

and gives away free lunches though cash-apps

13. Give a random gift card

13. Holding the door open for someone else (I was amazed when I went south, the men

would hold the door open for me). I have seen it in the North, but not as much as I

did in the South. Also, I was amazed as my husband (a Viet Nam Veteran) and I

went into the store, he held the door open for a woman to walk through. She

grabbed   the door handle and replied, “No you go through, thank you for your

service.”He was presently surprised and a proud veteran he is.

14.Tip generously. When you receive good service. Let the server know. You never

know how a generous tip will help another family.

15. Even though you are in a hurry in traffic or at the store, allow another to go

ahead of you just because. There does not have to be a rhyme or reason, just be

     kind.

16. Look for opportunities and ways to show acts of kindness throughout your daily

     routine.
