On
Valentine’s Day you possibly give candy, flowers, or money, but do
you know why you do it?
History
According
to the History Channel some believe Valentine’s Day is celebrated
in the middle of February to commemorate Valentine’s death around
A.D.270. They further add that Valentine was a priest in Rome and
Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Fauns, the Roman god
of agriculture. In addition, in the 18th century there
was mass-production of Valentines card.
Now today retailers sell much more for Valentine’s Day, such as chocolates, weekend getaways, clothing, Valentine’s day snacks, and much more.
I
even remember in school exchanging Valentine’s Day cards and candy.
I really loved the candy. Sometimes the theme is celebrated in the
classroom by decorating the room as well as the door with Valentine
themes.
