Have You Gone Paperless?

 * * * What You Should Know* * *
Going paperless can result in less clutter and better organization. Sometimes it might just be a natural instinct to hold on to every piece of paper.

Why Go Paperless?

1. Productivity
Going paperless can increase your productivity. Instead of trying to find a document from a stack of messy papers in your office or at home, you can just access it through your computer. Now that is usually the case providing the computer service is not down temporarily, which in that case you would have to wait until a later time.

2. Review and Review
I know that on a weekly basis I may review papers that I have saved. I then decide whether I need to keep this paper or magazine. If I have already read it, possibly I can throw it away.
3. Ministry (Paperless)
I have seen some ministers that have gone paperless with their sermons. I recall having to type my pastor’s sermons when I worked at my church. I recall him calling me in on some Saturday mornings to type it. I asked him one day, “Why do I have to come up here on Saturday mornings?” His reply was, “Sometimes I do not hear from God until then as to what I am going to preach.”
Well with the new Ipads, a preacher can type his sermon or have his secretary type it and preach it directly from the iPad. There is less paper clutter and he can save it directly in his iPad. I wish they had those when I worked at my church. It would have been a saver for me.
4. Bill-Pay
More and more people are paying their bills online. Some are paying their bills directly from their cellphones. That is definitely something that will be most prevalent in the future. The advantage to paying the bill online is less paper clutter and you also save a stamp and envelope. So there are advantages. You may not want to pay most of your bills online, but you may want to look at what you are willing to pay online. It is usually fast and simple and you get a confirmation at the time of the payment. Be sure to have a shredder on hand. Shred those unwanted papers.
5. Messy vs Cleany
I recall after reading Messie No More by Sandra Felton, how she compared a messy person to a cleanie person. There are those that are just messy no matter what. She mentioned that a cleanie person will write a check to pay the bill and then throw that bill away. They do not hold on to it or file it, because they know that their canceled check is their receipt, even if the bank keeps the physical canceled check. They know they have their check register as a record, and can request a copy of the check from the bank if needed. That does cut down on the amount of paper kept around the house.
She also stressed moderation. I am sure there are those that want to be more organized or that are striving for that. Just remember not to try and run a marathon, you can accomplish tasks in bits and pieces.
6. Grocery List
Have you considered putting your grocery list on your Iphone instead of making a list on a sheet of paper. I have found this is so much better for me. There are even actual grocery list apps that you can use. Some of these FREE apps are out of milk, list ease, bring grocery shopping list, and much more. I personally like the Out of Milk app which allows you to enter the cost of items and you are also able to keep an inventory of items already in your kitchen. How wonderful.
Remember if you have not gone paperless, it is not too late to start today. You can tackle that large paper problem bits at a time.
