What I Learned About the Book of Enoch

***The Lost Book in the Bible***

Have you ever heard people talk about lost books in the Bible? I never quite understood how there could be lost bible books. I have been watching the History Channel. The information found there started me to thinking.

***Good News***

1. Nephilim (Watchers) (Angels)

According to En.Wikipedia.org., Enoch contains unique material on the origins of demons and Nephilim (mysterious beings or people in the Hebrew Bible who are large and strong) why some angels fell from heaven, an explanation of why the Genesis flood was moral necessary, and prophetic exposition of the thousand-year reign of the Messiah. They further add that Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers (angels who fathered the angel-human hybrids called Nephilim. Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughter of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” So not only does the Book of Enoch (which is considered a lost book of the Bible) talk about Giants, it is mentioned in Genesis 6:4 of the Bible.

2. Fallen Angels

According to history.com many Christians believe the Devil was once a beautiful angel named Lucifer who defied God and fell from grace. Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground which didst weaken the nations! Ezekiel 28:11-19 describes Lucifer as being adorned with precious stones of emerald, topaz, gold, and much more before his fall from heaven.

3. Why was The Book of Enoch removed from the bible?

There are those that argue that the book of Enoch was not inspired by God. There are others that argue it was never part of the bible. There are those that argue it is not acceptable reading for Christians. Yet it is not really lost and even though it is not in the bible, the book is highly talked about and seemingly kept alive. Enoch was the father of Methuselah (the oldest person in the Bible who lived 969 years), the book was considered sacred by some first followers of Christ, however, it was left out of the Bible and disappeared for centuries until it was rediscovered in 1773. In 1821, it was translated by Richard Laurence and published in a number of editions according to awakenstate.com

The heartscenter.com further adds that there was a concerted effort made by the (Roman Catholic) Church to suppress and censure its distribution. In fact, during the 4th century, some influential Church theologians decried Enoch’s book as heresy.

4. Giants and (Watchers) Angels

Did you know that Enoch 6:1-2, 7:1-8:3, 19:1 speaks about the watchers (angels) desiring the women, thus the women became pregnant and gave birth to great giants. Now these giants consumed the produce of all the people until the people detested feeding them. The giants then turned against the people in order to eat them and they began to sin against birds, wild beasts, reptiles, and fish. That is according to godawa.com

Luke 20:35-36 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more; for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Various other scriptures in the bible talk about angels as well. Hebrew 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly.

There are also various scriptures in the bible about giants. Genesis 6:1-4, being born, the sons of God noticed that the daughters of men were beautiful. They looked them over and picked out wives for themselves.   Then God said, “I’m not going to breathe life into men and women endlessly. Eventually they’re going to die from now on they can expect a life span of 120 years.     This was back in the days (and also later) when there were giants in the land. The giants came from the union of the sons of God and the daughters of men. These were the mighty men of ancient lore, the famous ones.

5. Dream-Visions

It is said that in the book of Enoch he described visions that he had. He talked about seeing the earth destroyed before the great flood.

6. The Prophet

Enoch the prophet is thought by some to have been the first man to write letters. Enoch gives fascinating description of the events in Genesis 6. They further add that God revealed great and wonderful mysteries concerning His judgment in the last days. This is according to Israel-a-history-of.com/enoch.

Although the book of Enoch was removed from the Bible, I am still glad that I read it because there are many things that are confirmed in other parts of the Bible namely, giants, angels, and visions.

7. How Old was Enoch?

According to the oldest.org., he did not live quite as long as the other men on this list as he was taken by God when he was 365 years old, which makes him one of the only people that God took to heaven without them dying. Can you imagine living to be 365 years old? Presently people are living to 119 years today. In fact the oldest living person in the world is Kane Tanaka, celebrated her 119th birthday on January 2, 2022.
