Incredible Winter Staycations In Michigan

Possibly you feel that you can not afford a vacation. If that is the case you might want to consider a staycation. Staycations are awesome.

Something to Think About:

***Intentional***

1. Staycation

You might ask, “What exactly is a staycation.” A staycation is a vacation that might be spent in your country, state, city, or even in your own home. You may determine where you want to stay.

2. Hotels

Have you considered just going to a hotel in your city possibly just for the weekend? Maybe to there for a couple staycation.    There you can be pampered. There may be no need to cook, even though hotels do have kitchen amenities now. Hotels now even have areas and events geared just for children. So you are able to take the entire family.

3. Frankenmuth Waterpark, 1365 South Main Street, Frankenmuth, Michigan 48734, (844) 296-5197 and Soaring Eagle Waterpark, 5665 E. Pickard R. Mt. Pleasant, Mi 48858, in Michigan

Although I have been to both Frankenmuth and Soaring Eagle Splash-pads, both are very nice, but I like the Frankenmuth Splash pad much better. It is larger also. I like that the pools are heated. This is a plus. I was, however, surprised to see as many adults in the water as children. While at Soaring Eagle you might decide to make it a spa staycation. That is available there. When staying at the hotel in Soaringeagle Waterpark you will receive free passes for the splash-pad. I believe that is a plus. They have special event packages as well for the holidays. Both Waterparks have arcades available for children. I was really impressed upon my last visits there. In the event that you do not want to go in the water there is plenty of room around the pool with chairs to just sit and observe your children.

4. Romantic Getaway in Mackinaw Island

What about a romantic staycation getaway in Mackinaw Island? I have never been there, but I was almost there the first time my husband and I were supposedly traveling to Kentucky to see his mother. Neither of us could read a map. I just knew to go 75. Turned out that we were going the wrong way on 75. We were going North instead of South. My husband who was from the South still did not have a clue, but when I saw the sign saying Mackinaw Island I knew we were going the wrong direction. Thank God for the GPS (Global Positioning System) which was not invented at that time. I sure wish we could have used it then. Michigan.org., talks about Mackinaw Island which has horse-drawn carriages because automobiles are strictly prohibited.

5. Winter Disc Golf

Hey all you golfers out there. Have you tried winter Disc Golf. This is talked about at Michigan.gov as one of winter’s least expensive hobbies. They further add that glow-in-the-dark discs are available and because tees are not cleared and snow removal does not happen on the course, you may want to bring a small shovel. Exactly what is disc golf? Pdga.com explains disc golf as being played much like golf except, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. Holly Recreation Area, 8100 Grange Hall Road, Holly, Mi. 48442, is just one of the areas in Michigan that has disc golf courses.

6. Tawas, Michigan

Some free events in Tawas Michigan include the Polar Bear Swim, Murder Mystery Dinner, Chili Cook-off, and hospitality. February 3-5. US at Perchville USA in Tawas, Mi. This is according to justshortof crazy.com.

7. Christmas at the Crossroads- Drive through lighting, 6140 Bray Road, Flint, Mi 48505

This is one of my favorites. I have been to this place numerous times. The great thing about this is how inexpensive it is to drive through and see the beautiful lighting. You never leave your car. The cost is only $10 per vehicle, not per person. How nice is that. The dates are December 16,2024-December 24, 2404, 5 pm to 9 pm. The lights are just awesome. This is a must see that you will never forget. Your little ones will just be fascinated with all the different lighting. I believe that I enjoy it more than the children do.

8. Watching Movies Together

My daughter shared with me that the new norm for her children were to watch a movie together online. She shared that they have friends all over the states that they talk to on a regular basis. Also, children now are gaming online with each other all over the states as well.

I do know that during the Pandemic there was much sharing and talking Face to Face online. I believe that still has continued. There are those that would prefer talking Face to Face on their cellphones and because of technology they are able to do so. There is so much activity done online now including socializing. That is a great thing about technology. It is also great that we were able to do that during the Pandemic to keep the communication open between everyone.

9. Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, 25 Christmas Lane, Frankenmuth, Michigan

Did you know that Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland Stores is one of the largest stores in Michigan? That is according to Michigan.org., They further added that Bronner’s is the size of one and a half football fields with over 50,000 trims and gifts. I recall going there on a field trip with my grandchild. It was amazing. There is such an abundance of Christmas items. There is just so much to see. I also love that traveling to Bronner’s is a delight. The lighting as you travel to the store is amazing during the Christmas time. It is a beautiful sight to see. There are so many different styles and varieties of Christmas ornaments. There at Bronner’s you will also see steins, angels, religious gifts, gift cards, artificial trees pre-lit and unlit. You name it and Bronner’s has it.

There you have it. Some of Michigan’s finest staycations.
