Do You Suffer With Cold Feet?

Have you been suffering needlessly with cold feet, cold hands, or both? There are remedies for this. Probably some things that you never thought about.

Feet Care

***Good News***

I recall suffering with cold feet. There were those that would say because I was so small I did not have enough weight to keep warm. Little did some know that I worked in a cold environment where the air conditioner remained on during winter and summer. I was not the only one cold. Many of my co-workers were also. I also had cold hands.

A Few Cold Feet Solutions:

1. Hand and Foot Warmers

My husband, whom is a faithful hunter, introduced me to foot warmers. I had never heard of such a thing. They can be bought in retail stores inexpensively. The foot warmers will keep your feet warm for up to 8-9 hours. This is ideal for the winter time. Considering in Michigan it gets quite cold. When I first tried them, I was feeling like I was in (7th heaven). It felt so good not to have cold feet. I also discovered there were hand warmers as well. Although I know longer work in that cold environment, I discovered I did not have a problem with cold feet as much until bedtime.

2. Heating Blanket

I discovered for some reasons the sheets in the wintertime feel very cold on my feet. So I tried a heating blanket. I just love it. It even has 2 plugins. If your spouse does not want heat on their side they just do not plug it in or if your spouse wants a different temperature that is possible also. Sorta like the heated seats in your car. Those seats are heated and adjusted for the driver and the passenger side has their own control as well. That is a win/win solution.

Now I take my heating blanket with me when traveling, because sometimes the hotels are not as warm or will take a while to warm up. So all I need to do is plug in my heating blanket. Heating blankets for me are a must now.

3. Hot Shower

What do you think about a hot shower? When you have cold feet a hot shower can be so soothing. Besides the fact that a hot shower will help to warm your cold feet it will also lower blood sugar, help relax the body to prepare for sleep, relieve muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and reduce headaches according to blog.myheatworks.com. Those are a lot of extra benefits.

4. Socks vs. Stockings

Granted some jobs may require heels and stockings. When possible try switching out stockings for socks, especially if wearing pants or a pants suit. Socks will keep your feet much warmer. Also, try wearing socks to bed. There are also other benefits of wearing socks to bed. Wearing socks can help regulate a cold body temperature and prevent hot flashes, cotton socks can help moisturize cracked heels, and further prevent dry spells, and wearing socks at night can help prevent Raynaud’s disease, which is a condition that occurs when the toes and fingers begin to lose circulation and swell. This is according to bvfootclinic.com. They further add that the type of socks you wear can help also such as natural soft fibers, merino wool and cashmere are the optimal choice and make sure that the socks are not too tight in order to improve circulation.

Compression socks can also help treat cold feet. According to drmotionsocks.com this is not just because they cover your feet, which does help trap warmth, but also because they can help treat the symptoms of conditions that can cause cold feet.

5. Massage Your Feet

Have you massaged your feet today? Dw.com talks about women suffering often from cold feet because they have less muscle mass than men and produce less body heat. They further add that rubbing the soles of your feet and your toes with gentle pressure, using circular and stroking motions. You may want to use your favorite body cream for your foot massages. This is a great idea. While you are watching your favorite picture on television just take time to massage your feet. It is up to you to make the time if you feel you are too busy.

6. Stretch and Flex

Do you sit at a desk most of the day? Have you heard of stretch and flex? You might want to try this exercise. Simply point your toes away from you then bring your toes back towards you. You can do this slowly using your full range of motion. Repeat 10 times on both feet. You also might like rotating your foot from the ankle clockwise then anticlockwise using your full range of motion. Repeat 10 times clockwise and anti clockwise on each foot. This is discussed at footandleg.com. This can also be done while watching television. A Win/win situation. You can watch your picture on television and exercise at the same time.

7. Foot Soaks

Have you tried soaking your feet in warm water? Doing that can be relaxing and soothing to your feet. This may be especially helpful if you live in a cold environment. Since climate change has started weather has been different all over the world. Michigan has been known for the cold weather one day and hot weather the next. Now this is not just limited to Michigan other states have had the same conditions. So whatever the condition of your environment, when the weather is cold take precautions to protect your feet. There is not need to suffer with cold feet. There are remedies for that. What do you do to keep your cold feet warm?
