How do You Praise God?

Have you given thought or consideration how you praise God? Is there a certain way to praise God? Is there a certain time to praise God? Do you only praise Him when you get in trouble?

Praise the Lord

Scripture Psalm 150:1-6

Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise Him in his mighty heavens! Praise Him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound;praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

Praise God with Song and Instruments

Someone has said that singing is good for the soul. Singing is a way to praise God. There is just something good about music and rhythm. You know that your voice is an instrument. There was a time that drums and guitars would have been unheard of as an instrument for praising God, but now in several Pentecostal, Baptist, and Sanctified churches you may see drums, guitars, organs, drums, and tambourines.

Time of Trouble

Do not wait until you are in trouble to praise God. Make it a point to praise Him during the good and the bad times, because God is a jealous God. Deuteronomy 6:15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Praise God with your mouth

Psalm 149:6, Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand. It is a blessing to be able to use your mouth. Just think of the many people that are not able to speak because of strokes or other diseases. Sometimes we might not appreciate this gift, until it has been taken away from us, then we realize how precious talking with our mouth is. You may hear people praising God when they say, "Hallelujah, thank you Jesus, Jesus, praise the Lord, God is good, or praise God. " They are giving the glory to God. Since God is my creator I must give all the praise to my creator.

Why Praise God?

Psalm 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

Beside the fact that the Bible says it is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto Him, it let's Him know that you appreciate Him. I cannot tell you why you praise the Lord, but I can say I praise Him because he has done so much for me. I cannot keep it to myself, I want to share this. Just looking back over my life God brought me from a 1-room apartment to a 3 bedroom home, 1 vehicle to several vehicles, and from unrest to peace and happiness. Now I am thankful to God and praise him for it. Also, my list could go on and on because He has done so much. God loves to hear our praise, because he is a jealous God.  He wants no one else before me but him. I was created by God and for God.

Anytime Praise

A great thing about God is that he has a hotline for you 24 hours a day. There is no need to make an appointment. There is no need to call him up and receive a recording telling you to push this button or push that button. You have instant access to God. How wonderful. God is a living spirit, not a dead spirit. Hebrew 4:12 for the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Have you ever forgotten about where you were going? Possibly, you ended up somewhere else. Then when you did return to your normal destination, you discovered there had been a serious car accident. Some might say it is luck that you took the detour. I would say it is God protecting you. I have thanked God for times when I was suppose to be somewhere and I might have been slightly late. Had I been earlier I would be in heavy traffic. There are so many reasons to Praise God. Some of them are for health, strength, shelter, food. The list could continue endlessly. There are so many times, again, we take these things for granted. So remember you can praise God at any time. Believe this; I definitely take advantage of praising Him.
