Prayer does change things. Scientists are also learning how prayer changes things. The Bible has always talked about the power of prayer.
Prayer For Strength***Gratitude***
1. Power in Prayer
There is power in prayer. I recall listening to an audio tape. The woman stated that there was an emergency and they had done everything that could be done so they might as well pray now. In reality the prayer probably should have come first.
2. Praying Constantly
As a child I remember praying constantly about so many things that were happening in my life. I seemingly had no control over. I recall asking God so many times, “Why?” As I grew older I realized many of the circumstances were to help provide strong testimony or even to protect the generations in my family.
3. Prayer and Miracles
How many of you can say that there were times that there was no logical answer for occurrences? It was seemingly a miracle. Science could not prove or disprove it. How many times have you heard a doctor say, “I do not know what happened but the tests are no longer showing positive for a disease.” Some will say because it was divine intervention. How many times have you seen people say, “They do not believe in God?” Then they have a divine intervention and they now believe. They had to see it before they believed it. That is great but faith and hope work differently. You are praying, believing and hoping for something that is not seen. Hebrew 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Have you experience a miracle in your life? Daniel 6. When you read about Daniel in the Lion’s Den it is amazing that no harm came to him during that incidence. I would say possibly a miracle because Lion’s can be quite dangerous and powerful as well.
4. Jesus
Have there been times in your life that you did not know what to pray? Possibly things seemed really dark. I found I could always speak the name, “Jesus.” I do believe he hears.
5. Why Prayer Is important
Is prayer important to you? Prayer changes things. Some people will pray daily while others may only prayer when there is a problem? Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:25-27 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store, away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? I could not agree more with the scriptures. Science has even proven that worrying is harmful to your mind and to your body. Worrying about something does not help you even though there may have been times you found yourself worrying; myself included. In fact when I think about it there have been numerous times when I saw no way out, but God always provided for me. So I cannot complain. I am a living witness to the power of prayer.
Prayer can set the tone of your day and build a strong relationship according to prayers and possibilities.com. I know about this first hand oh so well.
I recall previously one day at work when I came in, my coworkers met me with, “Betty you must not have prayed, everything is down.” My reply was, “God did not say that we would not have any problems.” That day we dealt with the problems and even though it may have been a struggle in the beginning my coworkers and I survived that day. The Bible gives us the tools to deal with out problems and our circumstances. In fact as long as you live there will be some type of problem. The question is how will you deal with the problems? How will you deal with the circumstances?
Another example I recall being a displaced worker and during cross training my department worked 2nd and third shift. We were not aware that they received a premium on those shifts. We worked and entire year and only discovered after we were no longer with that particular company that we should have receive a premium. So I prayed and talked to my coworkers. I explained we were entitled to the premium even though we no longer worked for them. I was going to send a letter requesting our pay. If my coworkers did not agree I would just send the letter for myself and not include them. Fortunately they agreed even though some were negative saying, “Good luck with that you probably won’t get anything.” So I sent the letter and we all got payed. That is the power of prayer.
6. Prayer is a Weapon
Did you know that prayer is a weapon against supernatural powers? There is power in prayer. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. This is so true. You may get mad or upset with a person, but have you ever stopped to look at their spirit. There is a spirit in everybody whether it be good or evil. It has even been said that when you read a book be sure to see the spirit of the person writing the book. Just look at all of the killings at the schools today. Look at prayer has been taken out of the schools. Look at all the weapons that are used in the killings. There is a spirit behind them and it does not look good. Remember to take time to pray today.
