Does Deodorant Cause Breast Cancer?

There has been much controversy as to whether certain deodorants cause breast cancer. There have been oncologists that recommend breast cancer survivors to not use deodorant.

There is a correlation between certain deodorants and breast cancer.

1. Parabens
According to cancer.org. Parabens found in some beauty products including deodorants has been a major concern that it causes cancer. The reasoning is that Parabens absorb through the skin and the estrogen properties mimic estrogen which is the female hormone to cause breast cells normal and cancerous to divide. In addition, an oncologist told me that the reason for treating breast cancer so aggressively in young women is because cancer will feed off of their estrogen hormone. That was news to me. I just did not know that.
2. Aluminum Bases Compounds
These compounds are active ingredients used in deodorant to temporary plug the sweat glands to stop sweating. These also can be absorbed in the skin and are close to the breast lymph nodes. There are studies that link aluminum bases to cancer.
Oncologists recommend breast cancer survivors to not use deodorants with these compounds, because they do absorb through the skin and can travel through the lymph nodes just as cancer travels through the lymph nodes.
Some of your safer natural deodorants will not contain Parabens or aluminum compounds. Be mindful that some of the natural deodorants can be quite pricey, so you want to shop and compare.

3. Bubble and Bee
This is 100% natural deodorant Spray. It has a mixture of Lemongrass and Rosemary Deodorant. They have a variety of scents and it not only comes in a spray, but in a stick also. Their ingredients are safe.
4. Best Natural Deodorants
According to the dailygreen.com Coconut Oil Kopari, Sports Luxe Vanilla are just a few of the best natural deodorants on the market.
5. Facts
Did you know that more that 3.1 million breast cancer survivors live in the U.S. today? Yes that is according to the National Foundation for Cancer.Org. They further state that 5-10% of breast cancers are hereditary.

6. Male Breast Cancer
Did you know that men get Breast Cancer also? As I sat with a patient through her chemotherapy a gentleman sitting nearby was getting chemotherapy also. I asked him what type of cancer he had. He replied, “Breast Cancer.” I have never considered the fact that men can get breast cancer too.
7. Cancer in animals
You probably never think about this, but dogs get Cancer too. I recall my daughter found a small dog and took her in only after having her for a short period of time discovered the dog had cancer. So just remember that cancer not only affects humans, but affects animals as well.
