Bloggers Meet and Greet January, 2019

Hi everyone. I want to talk about something that some of us may have taken for granted. Do you know the importance of deep-breathing? Sometimes you do not realize the importance of air until you have trouble breathing. Do you know who started New Year’s Resolutions?

I recall a lady coming to the counter and she was out of breath. She explained that she uses oxygen. I asked her where was it. She explained she left it at her seat, because she was trying to save what little she had left in it. She made me realize how blessed I was to just be able to breathe without any trouble. Did you know there are so many benefits of deep-breathing? According to skin.com Deep-breathing may help you de-stress, calm you, elevate your mood, pain relief, and much more. Also, they emphasized how deep breathing may promote better sleep, because it relaxes the body.

I can definitely speak from experience about the pain relief. I recall taking classes before delivering my baby. They emphasized the deep breathing. Little did I know at the time how much I would need that and how much it helped. One of my babies started coming so fast the nurses explained there was no time for the epidural that I thought I was going to receive. So it was at that time I really put the deep-breathing to the test.

Also, it is so important to be aware of when you become upset. How do you react? Do you feel yourself getting angry or even sad. Deep-breathing may help you calm down when dealing with those emotions.

Have you tried deep breathing? If not, it is not too late to try it today. Let me know what it does for you.

Did you know that the ancient Babylonias are said to have been the first to make New Year’s resolutions around 4,000 years ago, according to History.com. They further add that in 1740, the English clergyman John Wesley, founder of Methodism, created the Covenant Renewal Service, held on New Year’s Eve also known as watch night services. This included readings from scriptures and hymn singing serving as alternatives to the raucous celebrations normally held.
