Benefits of Music |
1. Health
I
have been in retail stores, medical offices and even beauty salons
where music was playing quietly. Apparently managers there are
aware of the importance of music.
After
reviewing 400 studies by Levitin and colleagues, it was revealed that
patients showed less anxiety listening to music during surgery.
Also, other evidence showed that music lead to higher levels of
bacteria-fighting immune cells. The great confirmation for me was
when Dr. Mercola mentioned that music played in the neonatal unit
improved the health of premature babies that had respiratory distress
or sepsis.
2.
Personal Experience
I
recall when my twin grand-babies were born; they were in the hospital for
about a week. During that time I recall visiting them daily, talking and singing to them as well. Also, before the babies were
born, my daughter would mention that whenever I was around her her babies would start kicking and moving when they heard my voice. So I
decided to make a tape that she could play for them while they were
in the womb.
NOTE:
Music
can evoke a strong emotional response either positively or
negatively. Have you ever listened to an old song that you used to
listen to when you were in a past relationship? Have you noticed the
memories that start to flood back through your mind? Those memories may have been
positive or negative memories.
3.
Scripture
The
devil was created as Lucifer. He was perfect in every way. He was
a perfect example of having the ability to play beautiful music, even
though he eventually was cast down and is now known as (“the prince of the air”) Ephesians 2:2.
4. The Heart
Did
you know that music protects the heart? According to everydayhealth.com A study done of 10
healthy adults in their mid-thirties showed a 26% improved blood flow
when they listened to joyful music. The
good thing about music therapy is that children as well as adults can
benefit from it. In addition, children with special needs, adults
with Alzheimer’s, or those with substance abuse problems benefit
from music therapy.
5. Jingles
Did you know that at least 9
commercials may be shown during commercial breaks? This
has increased from the traditional 1 commercial in between programs.
Now you usually will
hear music and/or a song to accompany it. Now I have noticed I may
walk around humming one of those jingles in my mind or aloud. Once
you hear it, it seems to resonated with you throughout the day.
Children tend to do the same thing. I like a variety of music. I discovered that I do like listening to classical music. Gospel and Classical music are my favorites. What types of music do you like to listen to?

DeleteMusic really does speak to our souls :)
ReplyDeleteI've been known to embarrass my children by breaking into song or singing jingles when their words remind me of lyrics from my past.
We love to play Broadway Showtunes or a bit of Mozart when tackling the housecleaning ;)
I was watching the movie credits the other day and thought it was amazing how many songs were played during that particular movie that I didn't even notice! Thanks for sharing at The Blogger's Pit Stop! Roseann from This Autoimmune Life
