Unfortunately
Domestic Violence affects the entire family. When a partner beats up
their spouse, it not only hurts the spouse, but also hurts all family
members. Remember that victim has a mother, father, sister, brother,
and possibly children.
PHYSICAL ABUSE |
1. False Promises
You need to know
that there is a pattern to a controlling and violent person. After
they have done their damage they will appear so remorseful to you.
They will promise that this will never happen again. They will use
excuses that they are under so much pressure. They will even go as
far as to say, “You made me do this to you.” You the abused
one might say, “But he is a good man, he cooks dinner and he does
this, or does that.” Ask yourself, “Does a good man hit a
woman.?" Or does a good woman hit a man?" You need to not make excuses for him. or her.
2. Family and Friends
This is the time to
take the help of family and friends. This is the time to listen to
your family and friends. Because your family cares about you, they want nothing but the best for you.
3. Fear
Unfortunately your children may learn that it is okay to make their spouse fearful and nervous by using emotional verbiage to break down that spirit. Never forget your children learn from an abusive relationship. Your children are watching you. This fear is felt by not only by your immediate family, but by your aunts, uncles, father, mother, cousins, and grandparents. They all feel your pain and hate to see you in such a vulnerable position. You deserved to be happy. Life is too short. Domestic Violence robs you of that happiness. It also robs your family, because they want you to be happy. Happiness is a choice. You can choose to be happy. Why not choose to be happy in a healthy relationship.

4. Happiness
Your children learn that It is difficult o be happy because of the worry that one spouse might kill the other. Your toddler learns it is difficult to conceive a life with one parent, because the spouse killed the other spouse. I grew up in a family fearful that I might loose one of my parents to domestic violence. The fear is very real and traumatic. Your children may eventually hate the spouse that continually hurts you emotionally and physically.
